I hate:
- not having direction.
- not being able to move off the rock.
- people.
- cleaning.
- not hearing back from places I apply. they can at least say "we don't want you." instead, they just don't respond.
I love:
- not having to wake up real early. I'll enjoy it while I can.
- getting two weeks' vacation pay to cover my time of job hunting.
- how no one has yelled at me or called me stupid for losing my job. I already know it was stupid, but I'm over it. moving on now. (although I never directly told either of my brothers about losing my job and how it happened, so I guess there's still a chance I'll get yelled at for it)
- kitten is almost ready to come home with us.
- knowing the temp agencies I signed up with are confident in getting me a job because of my abilities and work experience.
- shuffleboard at Murphy's.
- how Mike has been encouraging me to take my time in searching for a good job.
Nay:
- my lack of really good organizational skills. I can keep things organized, but it's not done very well. Organized chaos comes to mind. I know where things are, but I don't know if anyone else could find it with the way I have it.
- generic Post-Its. They suck. I prefer the Super Sticky Post-Its over any other... they actually stick and stay stuck.
- getting rejected by retail stores for which I apply. I have the experience, I work hard, I'm reliable... what else do they want? Sorry if I'm not cute enough; I don't do cute.
- finances. see a pattern yet?
- the holidays coming and I haven't been able to get finances in order yet! yuck. I want to start early, but I need that second job first.
Yay:
- interview today at 4:30pm. Blue Hawaii LifeStyle, a health store with an in-store café. I didn't really want to drive to town to work a part-time job, but if their coffee is as good a quality as they say, I may give it a shot.
- keeping pretty good with not spending so much money during the week. I have started to bring my own breakfast (Hot Pocket) and sometimes lunch, too. and if I don't have lunch with me, I tend to go to Costco or Subway or somewhere cheap. I have soups and such that I can have for lunch, too, so I will try to keep up with it. Xmas coming up... scares me.
- Know Your Camera 2 starts on Thursday. all this talk about trying to save money, and here I am spending $100 on a non-credit course. I don't care... it's teaching me new things that I have fun with.
- October is a three-paycheck month. We won't see the extra money this month, since the paychecks on October 31st will go to rent for November, but the extra paychecks will show a bit later. That'll be nice, and will definitely help with Xmas. I think. maybe my calculations are off, but in any case, the extra paychecks are this month.
- Honolulu Community Concert Band 35th Anniversary Concert this Sunday, October 26. I like performing, and I also like not having to feel the pressure of preparing for the concert. I'll be glad when it's all over.
I Hate:
- people.
- poor weather that may hinder photographs for this week's assignment. I want to do my twilight shot, but if it keeps raining, I'm not sure if I can.
- not knowing exactly what it is I'm supposed to do here.
- finances.
losing our chicken hat. I'm hoping it's found. it has great sentimental value... it's been in the family for 4 Oktoberfests.
I Love:
- spending time with Mike. even though a part of the holiday was taken up by him replacing the belts on the truck, we still had time to watch TV together and order pizza.
- Oktoberfest. They didn't replace the St. Pauli Girl cardboard cutout yet... so Mike had to make due with the poster.
- planning on visiting kittens on Wednesday night. I'll try to take pictures of the one we're planning to adopt.
- payday on Friday. the sooner it gets here, the sooner I can stop worrying about bills.
- remembering to grab something from home for breakfast and lunch. Hot Pocket and veggie lasagna. frozen, cheap, good.

- interviews that end with, "so if you don't get a call within a week, there are no positions available." My 2nd 2nd interview was this morning. The supervisor said they are hiring for Occasional/Seasonal, but then she ends it with the statement I just mentioned. Why would you say you are hiring for seasonal, for the upcoming HOLIDAY MADNESS as all retail stores understand... and then say you might not have any positions available? I'm not sure whether to just write off what she said, since if they are hiring, they are hiring, or if it's a sign telling me maybe I should try somewhere else? fuck.
- if Best Buy DOES hire me, it won't start until November. This is good and bad. Bad: I don't get paid yet. Good: I've still got two more classes on Thursday evening. If this interview process is going to take longer, I might sign up for the next class and tell them "my availability changed since the first time I filled out your
stupidform." - Undefined job requirement. I've never really had a full understanding of what I'm supposed to do for my job, and it basically is getting to be more and more responsibilities. While I am fine with that, since I feel as though I don't really have that much to do, I would prefer some proper training on certain parts of these new responsibilities. It doesn't look like I will get any training at all.
- stupid people who don't properly train their dogs. A pit bull mix, known to be an aggressive dog, killed the family's two-month old child. I hate ignorant people.
- galvanized exhaust clamps. Rant for later.
- Three-day weekend on its way. Who doesn't like these?
- Oktoberfest. Who doesn't like Oktoberfest?
- having fun with photography class. Went with Mary and Mandy to Kakaako Beach Park to take some photos for my assignment. This week was all about lighting styles, and the best one that came out was the Butterfly lighting style.
- lazy Sunday. I did three loads of laundry, but other than that, I didn't do anything on Sunday. I slept (my back was a little sore, probably from sleeping in an odd position) and watched TV. with the three-day weekend coming up, not sure if I'm going to get myself into a cleaning mood, or if it's just going to turn into another lazy time. I'm aiming for snorkeling, but we shall see.
- Blue. the color. still in search for the perfect blue-black nail polish (MAC's Blue & Black was great, but it's discontinued), and I'm really looking to dye my hair blue again. I'm waiting to see about my part-time job and making sure that the location allows for different hair color.
- going out to see some movies. Mike is usually working on the weekends, and if he's not, he tends to sleep in and do absolutely nothing. So, Mandy and I have been going to the movies. I'm waiting on Mike to see Burn After Reading, but if he doesn't get a night off soon, I may just go see it without him!
- cheese pizza.
Missed another Tuesday. Oh well. This one's gonna be short.
Hates:
- not getting another call from Best Buy. I called them today, but couldn't speak to the supervisor I had my interview with, so the girl took a message and the supervisor is supposed to call me back.
- a dirty house. it's all cluttered and there's some cleaning to do. I might do that this weekend. don't really wanna, but it's gotta be done.
Loves:
- watching DVDs with Mike. right now, we're working on Angel and Torchwood. My two TV crushes at the same time :)
- going to visit kittens. This girl Bekah out in Mililani has 4 kittens that are about a week old. She's going to keep them until they are weaned and litterbox trained and big enough to jump onto the couch. I showed interest in taking home the gray girl, so she will be holding onto her for me.
- intro photography class. learning more of the technical side of photography, which is good. I needed it.
- Oktoberfest next weekend :)
だいきらい
- money problems. it's just so frustrating when you want to get rid of debt, but then it doesn't want to go away!
- fleas. I think we have them. I'm hoping Mike put on the Frontline Plus for Bela last night.
- not getting to bowl on Saturday. Not enough bowling alleys for the amount of people who want to bowl.
- Thinkgeek shipping charges. They are still working on a contract with the USPS, so until then, all they have is UPS and DHL. Do you know to ship an item that weighs about 3 ounces costs $16 for shipping??????
だいすき
- Endless shrimp. I love shrimp.
- Todai dinner on Saturday. even more shrimp! and other goodies.
- First interview with Best Buy is complete. On to the 2nd and hopefully 3rd interview. The 2nd one is with the supervisor of the department for which I am applying. The 3rd will be with the store manager.
- new games to play. I joined MyYearbook and they have some fun games on there. I don't have anyone on my list, nor do I plan on adding people... but the games are still fun.
- going to the movies. Mandy and I went to see Tropic Thunder on Saturday evening. That was nice to get to the movies (since Mike doesn't always want to leave the house at all).
No Thanks:
- bills.
- weekend feeling really short.
- I think there's a pimple forming on my bottom eyelid. it's annoying me.
- cleaning. I really need to get on this soon... the house is a huge mess and I want to start planning for the next party.
Yay:
- work desktop computer finally fixed. I got it back from Gateway on Friday and set it up Monday. Nothing erased.
- job offer from Kmart. I'm a little scared of this one, though... so I'm not sure if it's good or bad. I went in for an interview on Monday, 1pm. The interview consisted of, "So, what are you looking for in a job here?" and, "So, can you come to orientation on Friday?"
- interview next week Tuesday at Best Buy. I would much, MUCH rather work at Best Buy than at Kmart. I think the Best Buy job would be merchandising. Kmart offered me cashier. I'm not sure how long I can take standing at the register for hours a day without getting to really move around. When I worked at Borders, my schedule would normally not be register all day long. I'd get to work the sales floor and cafe. and again, Kmart seems kind of fishy to me. I'm not sure I want to work somewhere that is willing to hire people really quickly. makes me wonder how high the turnover rate is, and why these people leave.
- fun 1st Birthday Party for Jodi. there was face painting and balloon making... even crafts to make your own foam picture frame (there was someone there to print pictures from the day). I was in charge of taking photos and video for it. Hopefully it turned out okay for my brother. I don't want to have to list this as a Hate next time.
- Rock Band 2. specifically the Fender P-bass that they designed for it and released the same day. It is closer to the size of a real guitar (not quite the size of a bass... maybe one of the smaller basses, like what Kim Deal uses), the trigger is split for easier plucking rather than strumming (I pluck the bass, no pick strumming for me). I think it's pretty damn nifty.
- Torchwood Season 2 on DVD. Unfortunately, I ordered it on Amazon with other items with later release dates, so the Torchwood didn't get shipped out to me earlier. If I order a new DVD from Amazon, I usually get it the day of the release, or sometimes even the day BEFORE the release date. This time, it's going to be a little late. It's okay though... I save 35% by ordering from Amazon.
- planning to go to Souvaly (Thai restaurant) with friends on Friday night. I can't wait to eat the yummy thai food there :)
I Loathe:
- yeah...
- applying for jobs. searching for a part-time job shouldn't really be too hard, but with my limited availability, it might prove to be tougher than originally thought.
- credit cards. they are creations of the 9th level of hell.
- the time period of "breaking in a pair of new shoes." My feet hurt.
I Love:
- hanging out with my friends. Erin's birthday dinner night was fun. I even got Mike to join us for a bit.
- having time for the gym again. the last 2 weeks have been hectic. I won't have much time for the gym once I get the part-time job... but I'm gonna try to make it work anyway.
- caring friends, online and in-person.
- soup. gonna have some for lunch in a minute.
Loathes:
- fucked up yet AGAIN on the finances. This stops here.
- Brother taking out his frustration on my mom and on me. He got into a huge argument with his wife, and took it out on us. We may have contributed to his wife's pissed off attitude, but he caused what pushed her over the edge.
- Hypocritical brothers. He says his wife complains that I don't thank her after asking for her help. I DO thank her... but perhaps she isn't paying any attention to it? Then... he goes and asks help from Mike and Pat, and then disappears, not finishing explaining what they are to do. and does he thank them? No. There's more shit to back this up, but this is the most recent occurrence.
- Motion sickness.
- Puka's still not all better yet. She may not get better. it all depends on how strong she is.
Loves:
- The crazy weekend is finally over. hooray! The Japan Gagaku Society went home Monday morning.
- Selling a few t-shirts and postcards. There's still t-shirts for sale for those of my friends who I didn't get to sell to yet. Thanks to Pat, Blair, Maile and mom for helping with the sales table.
- Receiving quite a bit in our Donation Box. I won't disclose the amount, but it was quite nice to see.
- Spending Monday afternoon snorkeling with Mike. We went up to Shark's Cove and then had dinner at Cholo's. The waves made me sick after about an hour of snorkeling, so I had to sit on shore for the rest of the time at the beach, but it was still fun and relaxing.
- sleeping in on Monday morning.
- finally getting to apply for part-time jobs. a part-time job will help me earn more money and to keep me busy from spending money. I have been waiting until after this weekend to start applying. I won't be able to start work until after September 13th (the niece's 1st birthday party), but at least I can start the application process.
- getting back to a somewhat less stressful life.
Bleh:
- Puka being better, but not great and back to normal. She has another appointment tomorrow... and since she hasn't improved a whole lot, that probably means a $350 x-ray and blood test visit. ugh.
- feeling rundown, not enough sleep? I'm getting about the same amount of sleep as usual, but I feel extremely tired still. I don't like this feeling, especially with the insanely busy weekend coming up.
- insanely busy weekend. I won't get much sleep this weekend, if at all. more details in later posting.
- almost screwing up big time at work. On Friday, I was supposed to scan and e-mail a document ASAP. I completely forgot about it because it was printed up at a different desk AND I was on hold with Gateway Repair at my desk AND I had to pee really bad... it was a sucky Friday.
- having to say goodbye to most of payday $$$ to bills. yuck. not all, but a good chunk of it.
- missing the Season Finale of The Venture Bros. we had good reason for missing it, so I'm not too disappointed, especially when we will get a recording of it to watch tonight.
- the end of Season 3 of The Venture Bros. That means we will have to wait for Season 4. I hate waiting.
Huzzah!:
- going to the movies with Mike. It's a rare event. We went to see Pineapple Express, which turned out to be a pretty good movie. Good humor in it. More violent than we expected. James Franco is a good actor, as is Seth Rogen.
- so long as I am alive after this weekend, Mike and I will go snorkeling on Monday. Federal holidays are great. I wish I worked for the state and I could get state holidays, too!
- PF Chang's stir-fried eggplant w/tofu. it's spicy and tasty. yum!
- new Thai food restaurant near the office. They have a great lunch menu (only $6.99) and this awesome chili pepper oil... spicy yummy good. (I just checked, and I already wrote about this... but you know what? it's still yummy!)
- not having to worry about printing and framing photographs. I was going to participate in the Burlesque-themed event at the Honolulu Design Center this Friday, but 1) I signed up too late, and 2) This weekend is hectic enough as it is, I don't need more stress on top of the stress that's already there. as much as I would've liked to share my photographs, I'd rather not worry about it anymore. at least for now. maybe next event.
- planning postcards to sell at the concert this Saturday. My dad and I will be selecting photos to print up as postcards to sell as a part of our fund raiser for the Hawaii Gagaku Society. Hopefully people actually like them and want to buy them. I'm not planning on charging a huge amount, so yeah.
- quiet afternoon at the office. relaxing.
- sorting through photos with Mandy. we went to her house and just sat at our laptops and sorted through our photos. I mainly did it at her place because I wanted to get her to DO IT.
She has been putting it off for so long, it was about time she looked through them and picked some good ones to post.
